Palermo Plugging Along

Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship

Leonardo Looking Good

Every Borgata Open one player emerges as a fresh new face. In September 2010 it was Giussepe Pantaleo, who had two final tables and three cashes.

Now meet Leonardo Palermo who's made several deep runs with 3rd and 4th place finishes, to go along with one additional cash. Palermo has taken down nearly $55,000 in the Borgata Winter Open. His career earnings before the series: $6,000.

In today's Day 1A Palermo has been holding steady, but says he just dusted off 12k with a river bluff on a board of K K 5 5 2. Palermo is holding counterfeited pocket 4s, while his opponent calls with pocket 6s.

"It was a good call," as Palermo shows respect with a 25k stack, just 5k below the starting count.
